Your words about the runner beans' defiance against the changing seasons struck a chord with me. It made me think about how we often resist change, clinging to what is familiar and comfortable. But as you showed, there's a certain beauty in embracing the present moment and accepting the natural flow of life.
Absolutely, when I went travelling at 18, I really didn’t want to go, I was (and am) such a home body, and I was crying as I pulled my suitcase in the airport, I learnt a lot about myself and what I was capable of. If I realised that being brave doesn’t just happen once, it happens every day. Courage and resistance are really extraordinary things.
Wow, my friend. This was absolutely beautiful to read. I was swept away and standing right there with you as you said your last farewells to your home. And so poignant to do it just as autumn creeps in. Feels like such fitting, serendipitous timing. Perfect alignment. I hope that you are slowly settling into your new space. How amazing it is to make a shift and begin again! ❤️
I had forgotten what an event it was leaving a home. It is a big full stop. And I agree with you to have done this at the beginning of autumn feels special. I’m heading out for walks in the forest this week and it will be a beautiful way to settle ❤️
I haven’t finished listening, and I do love the way you read, but I need to finish getting dinner ready.,I’ll be back, but it never ceases to amaze me why people only like and not comment, although I guess if 100’s wrote to you you may not have time for your next post lol… as I said I’ll be back and finish off your post, and no doubt you will hear from me again. Lucky you growing runner beans, I don’t have the garden space.
Thank you so much for taking the time to listen Sally. Yes go and finish dinner first! So glad you’re hear. They can grow to some height. Like Jack and the Beanstalk, I can’t remember if you’ve told me before whether you do some growing? I hope you enjoy your dinner!
I’ve grown runner beans again this year and some French beans. I’m always amazed again at how tasty they are. It’s as if we forget and are influenced by others on their bad reputation. I just have to remember to harvest them before they get stringy. Yesterday I podded the ones I’d let go to seed and dried. Theres something really satisfying about this, the crackling of the pods and then the sound of the dry beans in the jam jar and even the feel of them when I dig my fingers into the jar. Is it the swell of potential life in them? The promise they hold for next year’s crop.
